Toyota RAV4 to hit the sales charts in 2021

We know that the Toyota RAV4 is a popular vehicle with consumers, but we don't realize just how popular until we take a look at its sales numbers. Since its redesign in 2018, it's absolutely staggering.

That year, Toyota sold 55,385 units domestically. By 2019, that number was up to 65,248. Then, in the midst of a pandemic year, when it was expected to see a decline, there was an increase with 67,977 variations sold. It's mind-boggling.

And this year, there is no sign of a slowdown. In the first four months of the year, Toyota's Canadian division managed to sell 23,585 versions of its RAV4, putting it on a record pace of 70,755 units (projected). In April alone, a new mark was established with 7,920 models sold.

No other vehicle is selling better across the industry, aside from the Big Three U.S. pickup trucks.

Frankly, the model's performance is impressive.

Two other stars

Our overview of Toyota's good results wouldn't be complete without a nod to two cars in the lineup, the Corolla and the Camry. The former is the second best-selling car since January 1, while the latter is in sixth place.

But it goes beyond that. The Corolla trails the Honda Civic by less than 100 units (10,884 vs. 10,788) while the Camry is the best-selling midsize car in the country, far ahead of its long-time rival, the Honda Accord (3,418 units vs. 2,110).

The cars are less popular than they were, but those sold by Toyota remain benchmarks in their respective categories.
