Toyota announced earlier this month that we can expect to see a new three-row SUV hit the market in early 2023. Called the Toyota Highlander Grand, it's more than just a new version of the popular three-row Toyota Highlander. The Toyota Highlander Grand will be a distinct model that will certainly offer plenty of interior space. Let's take a look at the new Highlander Grand and everything it has to offer, or at least everything we expect to see on Toyota's latest SUV.
More interior space and probably more cargo capacity
The 2023 Toyota Highlander Grand will likely have a longer wheelbase than the current Highlander. We expect the Highlander Grand to offer more passenger space in the second and third rows thanks to this longer wheelbase. We also expect it to offer more cargo capacity.
The current Toyota Highlander is one of the most accommodating three-row SUVs in its segment, but for buyers who need a little more space, Toyota didn't necessarily have an option except for the more expensive and much larger Toyota Sequoia. The all-new Toyota Highlander Grand will likely fill that void in the Toyota lineup.
Same hybrid and turbocharged powertrains
We expect the new Toyota Highlander Grand to offer the same powertrain options as the current Highlander. That means we expect a standard 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 265 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, a significant improvement over the previous V6. We also expect the Highlander Grand to offer a hybrid version that will deliver 243 hp and an expected fuel economy of less than 7 L/100 km.
We don't expect too many changes inside the Toyota Highlander Grand compared to the current Highlander and in terms of price, there will probably be a small price increase, but probably not that significant. With the new Toyota Highlander Grand, Toyota is giving us a more spacious and accommodating SUV with everything buyers expect to find in a Toyota SUV. We look forward to bringing you more details on the Highlander Grand early next year.
